Is leadership coaching something that all leaders can benefit from? Why is it that leaders who have a passion for great leadership, sometimes don’t live up to other’s expectations of them as a leader? Well, we all have blind-spots! Thinking that we see everything, but don’t, is one of life’s big challenges. That’s why we often need great friends around us….. those who are courageous enough to say things to us that make us better people.
Leaders often reach out to coaches to provide feedback. Coaches come in all shapes and sizes. Some are confidants, advisors, listeners, counsellors, etc… But not all coaches have the insight and candid approach to give transparent feedback to their clients. If you don’t have a coach that has shared uncomfortable, yet constructive reflections with you, I recommend you find a new coach. Having someone who can share things with you about the way you talk, the way you look, the way you engage, etc. will ensure that blindspots don’t catch you by surprise and cause damage that you would rather avoid.
